Its been awhile! I hit the 50 pound mark 2 weeks ago and then last week for the 2nd time on this journey; I gained weight. I gained 3.2 pounds last week. Although I was disappointed, I new it would happen because of my choices. But this week I lost 5.6 pounds to put my total weight loss at 52.6......YEAH!
This is the last week of play rehearsals as the play is next weekend! Then I will be fully back on track with a well rounded plan. I have found it really hard not to have a strong support system. But, I guess if I had the support system; I probably wouldn't reach out anyway. I find it much easier to write down what I am feeling and what is really going on. I think because I don't have to listen to anyone tell me what I am doing wrong....because I already know!
The other day, one my my colleagues said she was going to challenge me. I said, "OK"! She said, "When someone gives you a compliment, say THANK YOU and smile." I guess that is really hard for me to do. Because someone can tell me I look really good and I want to say, "Are you frickin kidding me.....I am still severely obese!" I do try to smile. I know that what I have done already is a huge step in the right direction on my journey. I lost over 50 pounds! I have not exercised consistently and very minimally the last month. It really goes to prove that what you eat really matters. So back to the challenge. I am going to work on just saying Thank You and smiling! I do appreciate when people tell me good things!
Speaking of the play....I am having a blast! It is so much fun with the cast (Bonnie, Paula and Don) and with Char and Nancy! If anyone really needs a good belly laugh you need to come and see the play next weekend! I really enjoy doing this! I like to pretend to be someone else! Like my bumper sticker says; some days all I want to be is a missing person! I am afraid that maybe my kids would miss me:)
I am going to talk a little about family! Last weekend one of my nieces told me that forgiveness is the way to go. I had a great time visiting with 3 of my nieces (Danielle, Kayla, Bailey) and great niece (Brya) and sister, Jill and mom! This week I said a lot of prayers.....prayers of forgiving myself for being so judgmental! Life is too short! Anyway.....I really miss my sister! Not going into any details; but the other day I was thinking; who am I going to make Christmas cookies with? Ela asked me the same thing; since Aunt Joy won't be around we won't have any Christmas cookies! That sunk in! I had a feeling of sadness! My favorite time of year and I have really enjoyed the last few years when we have made that a tradition! Why do we have such strong emotions when we get older? Why can't we forgive and forget in our later years; when we know how much life matters and how short it is? It sucks to be so strong headed! Thanks mom and dad for that one!
Well, good luck tonight to my Vikings......take the Bears down!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!
A journey on discovering my true self and what is inside of me. A life changing journey that will keep my past behind me; always!

What is Self-Destruction?
Self-destruction is the life I once lived and a life that is so easy to revert back to! I know sometimes that my "genetics" come into play in my life. I believe I have some psychosis in me....I can laugh about it and make jokes; but in all sincerity....it is real! I have an addictive personality. I turned to food after years of self-destructive behaviors; and the food ended up being worse for me. I have always told myself that I wish I could become addicted to something healthy; like exercise!
Last week, I reverted back to what I call self-destructive behavior(s). I only did it once and really want to believe that I will NOT do it again. I ate some chips last Thursday and something else that I can't even remember. I was dressed to go and workout at the Snap Fitness in River Falls. I was mad at myself and decided to go to Burger King (psychosis). I went into Burger King knowing that whatever I was going to eat I was going to just throw up! That I did. When I finished eating at Burger King (which it doesn't even matter what I ate) I went to Shopko and walked right back to the bathrooms where I hurled....I threw every thing up...even my breakfast! Of course, I felt guilty, ashamed, angry and disappointed. I never went and worked out and went straight home and went to bed.
I was able to lose weight last week and ended the week with a total of 49.2 pounds lost. This week I have been on a yo-yo. I have not exercised and I have slacked on my eating. I am so frustrated with myself because I know what I need to do and I know when I make the "bad" choices that it is BAD and not on my plan for health...but I am not joking when my brain over talks my mind into doing something. I don't want to weigh in tomorrow morning; but I will. I don't think I will hit my 50 pound mark because of my bad choices. I will keep moving forward. I am never going to turn around! It is just so hard and difficult at times to make the good choice when the bad is the easiest one to make. I am not going to make excuses and say how busy I am; because that is a choice that I have made for myself. I decided to be in the Community Theatre Play again this fall and it takes a lot of time. I like to be busy! I am doing the play for myself. I could make 100 excuses; but excuses don't make things right....only making the right choice makes it right!
I keep telling myself that if this was easy....I would have done it years ago. Keep the challenge coming...I'm still up for it!
Until Next Time.....PEACE OUT!

"I Don't Want to Weigh In"
That is how I was feeling yesterday. I didn't weigh in because I was in the Dells and didn't have a scale. I knew that I needed to get on the scale this morning. I was prepared for a gain this week. Why? Well I had a bad week physically and emotionally.
I was so excited after my 4 pound loss last week and ready to start another great week. Monday was Labor day; but I did really well. Tuesday came and I got a really bad headache; which turned in to an all out Migraine. If you have never had a migraine; I will tell you that I would not wish it on my worst enemy! They are so debilitating. I was too busy during the day when the headache started that I never had time to take anything right away. By the time I got home on Tuesday night at 9:00 p.m.; the Migraine was out of control. If you know what it is like to wring out a wash cloth to get all the water out...that is what the inside of my head feels like when I have a migraine. It feels like someone is twisting everything inside my head and making my head pulsate...Not only that but I can't stand the lights and I get very nauseated. When I get nauseated; I know that it is too late. I ended up in the ER...I am not going to go into details about my ER visit; because it was not one of my most memorable ones. So you know, I can't do narcotics when I have a migraine and that makes them harder to get rid of. I was frustrated after my long visit that I ended up walking home!
It is almost a week later and I still have a nagging headache. I do not know what is going on, but I keep clenching my teeth; which is NEVER a good sign...at one point I could say that my migraines were due to lack of sleep, too much caffeine, not enough water or hormonal....But I can not pinpoint my headaches to anything right now. I will say that I was getting a bad headache tonight; but I did go and work out for 30 minutes (stair climber) and I do feel somewhat better.
Anyway, another reason I didn't want to weigh in was because along with an ER visit and an IV; I only exercised two days last week....It is too hard right now to get up at 4:00 a.m. because I have a problem getting to bed early enough!
When I did weigh in this morning I was really shocked! I lost 2.2 pounds this past week. I am very happy. I am down a total of 47 pounds:) I decided last night that I need to prepare better this week and that I did. I have all my food ready for the whole entire week. Krzysztof made me fresh beets..yum, yum, yum! I am set for another successful week. I will NOT let my headaches, stomach pain (yes it is still there and I haven't done sit-ups in a month) or my busy schedule hold me back from my JOURNEY to health! I will get over, crawl under or go around ANY hurdle that comes before me; even if I fall down first!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

What do you do if you don't meet your Goal?
I had set a goal for myself and as soon as I did that; I wondered if it was realistic. Well I did not get to 50 pound loss by the first day of school. But I am down 44.8 pounds at the end of my first week of school. I think it would be easy for you to figure out that the last two weeks didn't go to well. I didn't gain any weight; but I only lost 1.2 pounds during 2 weeks. I know now that it is GREAT...any loss is the way I want to go and closer to my journey to a healthy life. At the time...I was frustrated and felt like I was not being successful. Once again, I went into a mental funk! Eating cookies, chips....etc! Last Sunday evening I told myself that I need to stay on track and any weight loss is a loss! I promised to follow the plan!
I followed the plan this week; as far as food goes! I lost 4 pounds:) I only exercised 3 out of my 6 days; but I am not getting discouraged. I am still moving forward! My plan and goal for next week: Stick to the plan and do my best to meet my physical goal.
Speaking of physical; Yes, I am still having issues with my stomach! My CT scan came back negative so that is great news....but pain is still persistent. My husband believes that it is structural and thinks I should go see a chiropractor and get an adjustment. I believe there is something structurally out of whack for me since Monday I ran 3.1 miles on the Treadmill and couldn't even walk afterwards, not just my foot but my hip hurt so bad:( I will keep my options open and see where my pain takes me next...but don't worry about me!
I took my husband out for his birthday on Friday night, he turned 39. We went to The Nova in downtown Hudson. The place is amazing! When we left Krzysztof said we needed to stop at the grocery store. Of course, I had just went to the grocery store and asked him what he needed. He replied that he needed to show me something! After some discussion, I stopped at County Market. Krzysztof grabbed a basket and we headed back to the dairy section. He stops by the butter and I said, "Krzysztof we are NOT buying butter here, oh my god, it is on sale at Nielsen's." He never responded the whole time I am ranting about not buying butter or how much it cost and asking him what he would need all that butter for. He asked my what 12 x 3 was and I responded 36. He took a whole case of butter and placed it in the basket and grabbed 4 more pounds of butter. I wanted to swear at him because he was clearly not listening to me that it was on sale in Baldwin. The he says, "Pick it up!" I responded with a why? He said, "Pick it up, NOW....this is my birthday present, Forty pounds lighter....I couldn't ask for anything else." He gave me a hug. I wanted to cry but I was standing in the dairy section of a grocery store! I just kind of laughed and told him he was such a DORK!
I am grateful that he showed me that....to feel how much that weighs and to see 40 pounds of butter sitting on the floor in front of me kind of put things into perspective.....because there is still a lot more than 40 pounds of "butter" that needs to leave my body! I love my husband!
School started and will be a challenging year! Bring it on.....I love a challenge!
To answer my title question; What do you do if you don't meet your Goal? Keep going...don't stop! Set a realistic goal; but always keep a goal far out of reach where you have to really work for it! If it isn't challenging; it isn't worth it!

Change my Plan! NO...I can't do that!
Last week, Leif changed my plan up for me a little. Well, actually A LOT! He took my Carbs that I was able to eat for breakfast or my first meal away from me! I got his message and I pretty much wanted to cry! I thought, "I can't eat my eggs anymore....wait I CAN'T eat my cereal" I am still able to eat the eggs, just can't have the wrap or bread to put them on! It has been fine. EXCEPT...
I had a food melt down on Thursday! I had made Krzysztof a hot dish using bread sticks and crescent rolls and while I was making my own meal....I was HUNGRY and I did NOT have any veggies around ready to snack on. Instinctively I took some of the carb loaded hot dish that I made for Krzysztof and ate it. I wasn't done with that...I grabbed a handful of Fritos and ate those and ate an Oreo cookie......This didn't happen over a long period of time; probably within 5 minutes I had consumed all of that! Of course...I was so ticked and disappointed and frustrated! I told myself that my body was "craving" the carbs...But I know the truth is that I didn't have any good veggie snacks prepared for my body to crunch on. Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail!
I still lost weight this week....I am down another 3 pounds...so if you are keeping track that is 39.6 pounds! That is over 10 weeks! The crazy thing is....I have another 60.4 pounds to go until I reach my goal of losing 100 pounds (Krzysztof will get his tattoo) and after that I will still need to lose some more; because I will still be overweight according to the Medical charts!
My 1st short term goal is to be down 50 pounds by September 1, the first day of school! My 2nd short term goal is to be down 75 pounds by Christmas....We will see. When I put those numbers on the screen it is very scary. Scary to think that I am overweight that much and scary to think of how hard this is going to be, forever!
I went to Victory in Stillwater with Stacey and Steph twice this week. I took my daughter with yesterday morning. Ela is a trooper...she is very athletic and she loved it! The Fat Blast classes are really awesome over there. I wish I could find something here is Baldwin! We plan on doing 2 more of Victor's classes this week! Should be fun:)

The Love of My Life.....
I am going to dedicate this post to my husband, Krzysztof! Krzysztof is the love of my life. We have been married for 13 1/2 years and I love him so much! Of course like all couples and partners, we have had our ups and downs....but we continue to survive. Krzysztof continues to praise me for the work I am doing for myself and is so encouraging. What he doesn't know is that I will never let myself down again because I don't want him to be disappointed in me!
I am happy with a 3 1/2 pound loss this week! The total is 36.6 pounds lost...Can I get a , Whoop Whoop? Thanks!
I met with some of my Fitness North alums today...it was such an amazing feeling to be with the people who watched you struggle so much in the beginning and truly know what you have been through and understand your struggles! As we were talking and sharing stories (most of our talk was around FOOD!) I discovered that I have been eating almost double the amount of Fat during my breakfast....I had to laugh because I was adding Smart Balance Butter to get my fat forgetting the whole time that the Eggs count as Protein and Fat...Oh well~
Some of us did a workout today over by Lake Calhoun and it was extreme...I don't think I am ever going to get to a point and think, "Oh, a boot camp workout....no problem bring it on...I can do anything." I am always going to be thinking, "Oh crap, how bad am I going to hurt later?" The good thing is that the workout was only for about 90 minutes so there was an end to the beginning. I would rather do a Boot Camp workout each day for 90 minutes than get on a bike, elliptical or treadmill for 30 minutes!
The bad part of the workout was during the initial warm-up, we were jogging around the basketball court and on my last lap, I heard something and felt something pop in my hip....I was like, OH CRAP, what the heck was that. It hurt initially; but I went through the whole workout and it didn't bother me much. Now tonight....it is really sore; just my luck. Never heard anything back from the Doctor regarding my stomach issues...I think they are screening my calls and don't want to talk to the "evil one"! I am still having discomfort and now am second guessing myself and wondering if it is really a big deal...Although when Krzysztof did a check on it today it hurt really bad. He was really thinking that maybe it was a pulled muscle, but after today he doesn't believe that anymore. Doesn't matter what it is....tomorrow I am going to wake up (SORE) and go and workout!

I QUIT.....
Giving up on myself! I QUIT making excuses for everything.....I QUIT not taking care of myself....I just QUIT!
Sure glad I got that out of the way!
I lost the weight that I had gained last week. I lost 3.3 pounds this week! That puts me at a total weight loss of 33.1 pounds since my journey began at Fitness North on June 5th! This week went well....I was able to get my workouts in everyday; even in Green Bay on Saturday....I woke my butt up at 5:30 am and went to the gym.....It has gotten a lot easier to eat; although there are times when I look at the clock and think, DAMN....I am over an hour late for eating (or "my feeding" as Leif always called them). But I eat anyway. I know the importance of not skipping!
I am home alone this week with Jacek so things should go even more smoothly. Well, probably not...I am going to be running him all over green acres!
I believe I will be going back to the doctor as my symptoms have not subsided any! Thinking about that really pisses me off. I thought to myself the other day that maybe I always had whatever is going on in my stomach but with all of the fat and adipose tissue there, I couldn't feel anything. I have really tried to make myself believe that it is just muscles...but my brain is telling me otherwise. Keep your fingers crossed that the Psycho twin is just playing a trick on me!
I have two weeks before my life will start to get HECTIC! When life as I really know it starts to take place. SCHOOL! I will have some MAJOR planning to do prior to starting school and the main one is exercise. I am going to have to get up really early to get my workouts in. I don't want to end up back in that old life of not getting up and then being too tired at the end of the day...Oh that's right...I QUIT MAKING EXCUSES AND THAT IS WHAT THAT WOULD BE, RIGHT? RIGHT! Thanks for answering that so quickly for me!
I hope to have something exciting to write about next week. Maybe I will tell you all about the adventures that Jacek and I will take this week...We are going to go to the Lynx game on Tuesday night!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

I hope to have something exciting to write about next week. Maybe I will tell you all about the adventures that Jacek and I will take this week...We are going to go to the Lynx game on Tuesday night!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Midweek Check In!
Hello! I told myself that I would check in midweek so here I am. I have lost 1.8 of the 2.8 pounds that I gained last week! I have worked out each morning and today went and did a "Fitness North" routine. I went to Victory in Stillwater, Minnesota with Stacey and Steph who both work in the same district as me. We did some spinning, boxing, boxes and good ole' burpees and mountain climbers:) When we were done we headed to down town Stillwater to climb some stairs. We did 3 sets of UP 120 and Down 120....so that is a total of 720 stairs in case you were wondering. That was tough! I was drenched when we finished and out of breath. We then went to some Smoothie joint that Stacey has talked about. I had a Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Protein Smoothie.....It was really good; but not as good as the ones I make at home! I believe I will be going back to another class next Wednesday morning!
I mentioned in my last blog that I thought there was/is something wrong with my stomach. I did go to the doctor yesterday; she decided to order blood work and I had to give a stool sample...now I told my husband how gross that must be to have to work with someone's poop; he said "they do it all the time it is not a big deal." When I went back to the hospital last night to drop off my stool sample....or course Jason, whom I know, had to be the one working in the lab...made me even more embarrassed! He asked me if I knew what they were checking for...I responded; "I have not idea,." and walked out as soon as I could.
The doctor told me to take some GasX and gave me someother kind of medicine that is typically used for ulcers....I know it is not my bowels and my bowels are not backed up (I don't want to explain how I know this..you can get the picture)....I just have this really weird discomfort in my left upper/middle quadrant of my stomach, and at times it seems to move (NO I AM NOT PREGNANT)....it just feels weird and sometimes hurts a little more! The doctor told me to wait a week and if it is still happening; then I will have a CT scan! We will see.
I hope the scale on Sunday gives me a sense of accomplishment....it gets frustrated when I know I have not cheated and have done the things I have been told to do! We will see. As for the rest of the week....I am heading to Green Bay Friday morning for the weekend and will be back Sunday afternoon!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Throwing the DAMN scale away!
I really don't know what the hell happened this week. I especially thought I sweated off 10 pounds on Monday alone walking around Menomonie with Stacey SHIP! I guess not....
My bowels have been way out of whack this week and I don't know why for that either! I had some real severe cramping on Monday and Tuesday and since Wednesday I have been sporadic going to the bathroom. This is very unlike me!
Well, even though I am up this week 2.8 pounds; I am going to wake up tomorrow morning and workout and keep on trucking. I am hoping Devil Boy maybe has some insight for me and can get me out of my first slump...Pretty damn early on in the journey to be having a slump if you ask me!
Because I am so frustrated all I want to do is self wallow......and I don't want to do that! I am going to do a midweek check in! No fair to plan for this week or mornings that I have to get up extra early! Time for me. I am going to Green Bay on Friday morning (no I am not going to see the Packers) to a convention; but it will all be ok!
I will keep you posted!

The Quote Rings True!
"Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail"
I am not sure who said that; but it is so true! This was my first week at home and being able to fully execute my plan to the max. The results were a little shocking to me: I lost..............................................................................
8 pounds! I am actually so proud of myself! OK....enough of the bragging!
What did I do for the week. My normal morning workout....We went swimming on Monday and my psycho twin came out and was doing flutter kicks and deck jumps! My twin was trying to make my kids do the flutter kicks and they didn't even last a minute! It was beautiful at Wakanda!
On Tuesday we decided to go to Interstate State Park and do some hiking and fishing. We hiked 4 different trails for about 4 miles. It was very breathtaking with the cliffs overlooking the river. Although I got quite paranoid when my kids would walk out on the cliff. I yelled at Jacek and then had to let him know that I am his protector, his mother and I would die if something happens to him. I told him I wouldn't be able to protect him from falling off the cliff because I wouldn't get close enough to it because of my fear. I don't know if that was the Psycho Twin talking or just the freak of his mom:) Ela and Jacek were like; "MAMA, WE'RE FINE!" The family decided to do some swimming. Well we all know that I don't like to swim in lakes because I am afraid of this fish...yes just keep laughing.....It was a good thing I had my book in the car.
Wednesday we shaved the goats and I had a meeting. Thursday we went to take care of goats again and worked on some fair projects. Friday was more working on fair projects. I can't figure out why my kids wait until the last minute to do their things or even actually think about what they are going to make. Jacek changes his mind by the hour! Then my mom reminded me that I was the one who use to wait until the morning of the fair in 90 degree heat with no air and have to bake my items:) Now I understand they get that from me.
This week is going to be another busy week as we have the fair. I am going to PLAN my days so that I stay on track. I will not let anyone or anything get in the way of my journey. My determination is very powerful.
I do have to say that I have not been an active member of a church for my adult life. There is a very long story to it, but the short version is that when my father died when I was 15 I told my mom I would continue to go to church until I was 18 and then I was done! I kept that promise. I was married in a church and both of my children were baptised in the church; but I never really accepted it as home and it was in Menomonie. For quite a few years now I have had the desire to want to go to church; but when I talk to my husband about it, we always end up arguing about the reasoning why...it is not worth the fight. This past year I was feeling really bad in my parenting when I saw something that my daughter wrote to her friend (Ela was 11 years old at the time): that she didn't believe in a God! I couldn't believe it! I was shocked and hurt and felt a betrayal. I have always had a strong belief in God; but not so much of the organized religion! Anyway, I made some conversations and realized that I needed to get my kids to church. I believe they need the exposure and then when they are older they can make their own decisions. We attended Peace in Baldwin. Ela and Jacek went to Sunday school when they got there. This year we are going to go back and I even said I would help volunteer in a Sunday school class. I have not told my husband because I don't want to argue. I am not a member of the church but I will see how it goes. Sorry to bore you with this on my blog; but I thought writing it down would make it more meaningful to myself!

Updated Results!
Drum roll...........................I lost 2.2 pounds this week for a grand total of 24.6 pounds down:) I am very happy with the 2.2; especially since I spent 4 of those days is Chicago! It is truly amazing how much better I feel when I am eating 5 times per day and eating the things that should go into my body. Today is my "cheat" day; and I just keep thinking: "Oh, I don't want to eat anything bad." How wrong is that? Back in my previous life, I would have already had the dessert picked out and planned a loaded carb day! Crap, I probably would have already had the equivalent of my 5 meals in for the day. That is why I don't live in the past!
I just made some sloppy joes for the 4-H picnic, but I don't want that either! I am sure by the end of the day I will have had my cheat meal and I will be much satisfied with it!
I have a house to clean, laundry to do and dogs to start yelling at! I don't understand the obsession my dogs have with the damn squirrels and birds! If I knew where Jacek's BB's were, I think I would have had myself 2 squirrels already today (now wouldn't that be a great cheat meal)! Laugh at that, but as a kid we ate squirrel and it was the worst! Anyway, my two little yipper snappers go crazy outside. I do find it kind of comical to watch the birds and the squirrels go from tree to tree and then sit on top of the fence posts; it's like they are torturing my little dogs!
I am looking forward to spending this week with my husband! He took the week off for vacation and we are going to go on some day trips! HIKING.......I am sooooooo excited! I am sure I will be seeing imaginary figures of Leif and Kelly walking ahead of me and trying to make me go faster:) I am going to just plan on keeping up with my kids!
Unless I have a major melt down or some psychotic episode during the week; I will be back next Sunday with new results!
Until then, PEACE OUT!

Temptations Suck!
I know I could make this blog all about everything being hunky dory....but you know what? It isn't! I made a promise to myself to make this as real as I could. The only way to make it real is to be honest and truthful to myself and others; accountability!
While I was in Chicago the temptations were so overwhelming. I believe part of it was not being able to control the time! The best part of my eating was breakfast; that is the ONE meal I did not deviate from, skip or cheat on! The problem came after that. Going to the RA and not knowing when breaks are or being so caught up in the assembly and realizing that it has been 5 hours since I last ate....I would then go into a little panic mode! I did OK while I was gone; but I sure didn't do exactly what I should have been doing!
Two major WOWs for me were: I went to the Corner Bakery to grab a salad and bring back to the room. As I was in line, I grabbed a bag of mini m&m cookies...I put them back~ I turned around and grabbed the bag again and kept saying, "if you want them just eat them"...I put them back and was staring and checking out the raspberry bars, lemon bars, bundt cakes and thought to myself that I would just order one of them...My mind was definitely playing tricks on me and it was becoming quite overwhelming and I hadn't even ordered my salad yet. I also kept thinking that I might as well just order a sandwich with chips, what the hell; I may never get back to this place....WELL......if I let my mind distract me from my goals in life; I will get back to the place that I started and I don't ever want to go back there! I ordered my salad and grabbed a banana....I even threw away the roll that came with the salad:) Although the salad was probably not the healthiest with the dressing...I was OK.
The next wow was yesterday coming home on the bus. I brought my little nephew Filip back with me from Chicago! The bus stopped in Mauston for a break and I was hungry since it was 6:00 p.m. and we ate at 10:00 a.m.! We went to Wendy's! I ordered a salad and he got a chicken nugget meal with a Vanilla Frostie! Not even knowing what the heck I was doing.....I stopped when I realized I was eating his vanilla frostie......I am really not sure what my mind did to trick my BRAIN into feeding my body that? You can call me psycho for feeling this way; but that is how I literally felt. After I realized what I did...I was bummed, angry and frustrated at myself and just wanted to get home!
I am home and sooooooooooooooo happy! I got up this am and went and did my workout....had an awesome breakfast and feel good about being able to be back on track! I know I am still going to have the temptations....but I will not fail!

Hello from the Windy City!
I am in Chicago and after 1 week on my "OWN" I am down 1.6 pounds.....I am extremely happy with this; especially seeing how the last 4 days in Chicago have been very challenging to get all of my nutrients in. I have not had my "5" meals per day yet.
I am not at all worried about getting side tracked or worrying that it will be hard when I get back home... The one thing I am looking forward to on Thursday morning is to eat my eggs!
Just wanted to let you know how I am doing after a week. I will tell you that I AM having a piece of Chicago style pizza tonight:) I just can not wait......
Just went through security and searches from Secret Service as Vice President Biden is coming to talk to the Delegates at the RA today! I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the whole body strip search:)
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Home and Results from Fitness North Days!
I made it back to Baldwin yesterday afternoon and didn't stay home long! I had some grocery shopping to do; so I took Ela and Jacek with me. I think my daughter grew another inch since I was gone. Her Uncle Eric took her to get a new pair of basketball shoes and she went from a size 4 to 6 1/2!
Anyway, we headed to Woodbury to go to Trader Joe's and Cub Foods. We loaded up on everything on MY list; of course I did let them get chocolate covered Almonds from Trader Joe's and I didn't even have one. So what did I eat on my first day home? I had breakfast before I left so on our drive from Two Harbors to Baldwin we stopped in Solon Springs at Charley's and I ordered a Taco Salad w/just lettuce, black olives, onions, salsa and taco meat. I did put french dressing on it! It tasted so good. I had said I was going to have a cheeseburger but I couldn't do it. I get what you call a "Cheat Meal" or "Refeed Meal" on my weigh in day each week. The meal should be different than what you eat like pizza or cheeseburger or pasta! The real temptation was that my kids wanted to go to Old Country Buffet while we were in Woodbury....I know what you are thinking....What the Hell?
I tried really hard to change their mind on that but we went. I also know that I need to overcome my temptations and get past my old habits. I loaded my plate with Spinach and added some eggs, peas, cucumbers, onions, mushrooms and used very little dressing! I went through the main portions and was very overwhelmed. My son had brought his first plate and had Ham, pasta, mac-n-cheese and corn. He says, "you can't have any of this can you?" I replied, "Yes, I can have whatever I want but I don't want any of that." So I had some broiled fish, 1 bite of a sweet potato, 1 scoop of a hot spinach salad and that was it! That is the first time that I have never had pasta, dessert...etc....I was proud of myself!
Today! I woke up and went to the gym and did my cardio. I also did some arm weights and an Ab workout; but I skipped the Skywalkers! I was home by 8:10 a.m. I have not left my kitchen today and not because I am eating. I am cleaning. My dining room and kitchen were an absolute pig sty. I had 3 weeks of mail left for me. No one in my house opens mail; it was all left for me. All of the school supplies were left for Mama to put away as well. I just finished the floors! I still have the computer desk to clean and I am done with this level in my house! I have done really well today with staying on plan and eating.:) My son had a salad with me and said it was the best salad he has ever had....I love him! I did leave the house to go get a haircut with the rest of my family from Jules! Jules had to cut about 2 inches off my back that was damaged from the pool! My son got his mop cut off:) He is so damn handsome!
The news you have all been waiting for: I left Fitness North 20.8 pounds lighter and 21 inches smaller! I lost 5 1/2 inches on my waist! I was shocked and excited with my numbers. I have a plan I will follow that can and may by changed on a weekly basis. I have no problems with any of the food! I am leaving Wednesday night for Chicago and will be gone 1 week; I am taking my scale with me. I am a little nervous about that; but I think it will be OK! I guess when we go to the Cubs/White Sox game there will be NO beer, peanuts, hot dogs or popcorn for me....I will just suck on my Water!
I will update this blog when and if I find something interesting to write about; but life with Jen is pretty damn boring.....I am going to be cleaning my house the rest of the night. Tomorrow I am taking the Mahoney kids (Axel and Maddox) to the water park! Bring on the TAN!
I hope my fellow Lions are well back at Fitness North! Everything they are doing is worth it. I will leave you with this:
How bad do you want it? Push yourself, no one else can push you...you have so much potential...find it and utilize it. You are the only one who holds up You!

I am Departing the North Shore!
My last day, yesterday, was the kind of day one would probably expect from a "Boot Camp"! We had our two hour pool work-out and were able to play a game of Ultimate. Ultimate didn't go so well for me and my team...I hate to lose and we got our asses kicked....it really sucked! We quickly packed up and left for our hikes at 9:00 a.m.
The first hike took us to Caribou Falls; which was really awesome! The falls are absolutely beautiful. Of course there were 145 steps to get down to the falls outlook and then yes you did have to walk back up the 145 steps! I am starting to wonder why you hike way way up and then to reach the falls; you have to go down stairs? Just make the path even, right; but I forgot that is NOT how mother nature designed things. When I got back down to the parking lot I really had to go to the bathroom; I noticed Sharon was going by a truck and then saw this CREEP is his motor home watching.....I still went!
Our next stop was Oberg Mountain again. We had to walk to the top and wait for everyone else to get to the picnic table before we could eat. I do still want to come back to Oberg in the fall to see the colors. when we got back down to the parking lot we were not done hiking; we had to do the Louveaux Loop....I am going to tell you straight up- This hike sucks! While we were walking up and up and up and up....I told Leif behind me that there better be something pretty spectacular at the top...There wasn't! Just a rock cliff to climb that was so brutal! When we finally got back down I said I am NEVER going to do that hike again!
The best part of the day gets better. It was not good enough that we did 3 hikes in one day; of course it must have been a Fitness North record! We were told to do 1 hour of cardio before we went to bed. My twin sister Camille and I pretty much felt the same way....we both said, screw it...we are going to do it right when we get back! Which we did. We logged in our hour cardio right away! Of course we complained and bitched the whole time!
Nikky made our supper...Garlic Cod:) Then Camille, Nikky, Camille and I went and had our massages again by Mass-aaah-ge by the Lake....Once again it was so relieving. It was Saturday yesterday so that means cards! Camille and I were partners so that pretty much guaranteed that I was going to be on a winning team; which I was... Camille and Nikky were on the other team.
It is Sunday morning right now..of course they don't let you sleep in on your day off or your day of departure...up at 6:00 a.m. to get weighed. I have to wait until 8:00 a.m. to have my exit interview before I see my true results. I will let you know later on that!
I do want to tell anyone who needs to get Healthy; whether you have 20 pounds to lose or over a 100; Fitness North is the place you can come to get your jump start! Fitness North has started a change in my life that will be lifelong! Sheryl had a remarkable idea when she thought up this place. Her and O'Neal did an amazing job when they decided to hire Leif and Kelly! I couldn't imagine my stay here without them! I have so much respect for Leif; he is so knowledgeable it is intriguing. He is going to be big someday and I am going to be like...yep....he helped me reach my goal:) Kelly is the ray of sunshine one needs everyday! She has so much encouragement in her and is so full of life. Don't wait....they are starting up sessions again the end of August! Your health is worth it!
I am going to TRULY miss my two roomies; Camille and Nikky! I have spent the last three weeks with them. Camille challenged me everyday and I am sure she knows that. She has the intensity and drive that keeps going! She is contagious in her attitude and demeanor....I wish we lived closer! Nikky is just so funny! I absolutely am going to miss her laugh! I hope her hammy/hip gets better for her; but they both are looking SOOOOOO amazing! THANKS to them for being here for me and taking me under their wings!
I will write more tonight!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Devil Boy's Terrors!
Let me just first start with the title of this Blog! I truly believe that Leif has nightmares at night where he conjures up exercises that will make us whine, cry, moan, bitch and swear! His nightmare last night must have been a real doozy! We were able to name the new exercise; hence the name Devil Boy's Terrors! So what is it? Well your body is in a plank and you have to DRAG your feet while you crawl with your hands and push a 20lb kettle bell ahead of you. Notice how I put DRAG your legs in capitals. Leif has never tried to drag my body behind me. We were able to walk the plank forward. We got to do this exercise 2 times so we could push the kettle bell with both hands! I don't think I will do this exercise on my own:( Sorry! But if anyone would like to see how it works; I will show you!
We were able to go on our morning walk this morning! Our circuits today didn't happen and we didn't get to go to the gym. We went back to the ballroom and did relays, suicides/killers, Indian runs and stairs! We were so fortunate today to be able to do BEAR CRAWLS for some of the relays! We only had to do the stairs 10 times:) The next time Leif asks, "how is the body, are there any parts that aren't sore?" Camille and I told him that our elbows and head were the only parts of our body that didn't hurt! Well, when we got to the ballroom; I asked him why he likes to torture us and why does he even ask if we are sore....he doesn't care! Of course he just gave us the Devil Boy laugh!
This afternoon we went back to Tettagotchee State Park! We drove to the falls this time instead of walking to the parking lot. We got a mud bath! The trail was so damn muddy my shoes are now black. To get to the High Falls, once you walk the path, you go down stairs! To come all the way back up there are ONLY 174 stairs! The sight was beautiful and we crossed a suspended bridge which scared the crap out of me. Next we went to Two Step Falls; don't worry it was more that TWO STEPS to get there! There was once again almost 170 stairs! The best part of the whole entire hike was once we were done, Leif said we needed to walk back up the initial climb, which is straight up for .3 miles! At first Camille, Katie and the other Camille and I said, SCREW THAT...we are NOT walking back up. Well we reluctantly did make the climb and Leif was shocked....he actually thought we wouldn't walk back up it! Dare me?
Thanks to Nikky for having supper all made for us when we got back. Nikky is still working out her hamstring injury and they said she could not go on the hike today! We were so happy to have supper waiting for us. Nikky made our supper with a kick....it was awesome!
Tomorrow we are looking forward to our 2 hour pool workout and then we are leaving at 9 a.m. and going on hikes. We are eating on the trail...I sure I will have some great words tomorrow about that!
I really can't believe that my 3 weeks is coming to an end here at Fitness North! I have accomplished so much! I am grateful...but I will talk about that tomorrow night:)

Jill Kicked Our Butts today!
There really was not much new to share yesterday....it was still raining and the routine was pretty much the same!
Today there was still rain:( We did our 2 hour morning pool workout and then did our leg circuit. YUCK! Can you possibly believe that he put in 5 sets of Wall-sits into 1 round of circuits! I swore when I walked in and saw two, and then I kept looking at the signs and saw 5! So not only do we have 24 stations; but 5 of those were wall-sits! Ouch...ouch....ouch... But first, we had to do killers. Then after we finished our two rounds of circuits Leif thought we should do some more killers with a kick. We had to carry 40 pounds with us while we did the killers! Do you realize why we call him Devil Boy?
We got a special treat this afternoon! No, it wasn't in the form of food; we got to go to Jill's fitness place. 4 U Fitness! Jill is one of the most upbeat, hyper and smiley people I have ever met. She definitely loves what she does and she is very good at it! We did three different circuits at Jill's place. I was in the group that did the Spinning first...1 hour of spinning w/Jess! Next our group went to Jill with the TRX ropes....OMG! Camille made a comment at one point that I had to laugh really hard and I actually snorted, Camille said, "Fat people don't do this!" TRX is total body resistance and when you weigh more, the more it hurts and the harder it is! The one good thing is I was able to get up in a plank with my feet in the ropes on the first time this week. I could barely get up last week. For our last circuit we went with Danielle to do kettle bells! Danielle went through some great workouts with us using the kettle bells! They are really intense!
You would have thought we were done, but NO....we did some kick boxing! I think the worse part of the day at Jill's was the stretching at the end! Jill has a background in dance and therefore is VERY flexible...I have a hard time just touching my toes and she is trying to make us do moves like we are snakes! I am glad that we did go back to Jill's place. I really enjoyed the spinning and I think I could get to like the TRX!
We got to have Tilipia for supper....yummy...yummy....yummy!
I only have 2 more official days left here! My body has done so much and I am proud of myself. I still do not like looking in the mirror; but I know that it is going to take a while to get back to a good physical state! I am really excited to see my daughter! I have not seen her since the day before I left! Shout out to her competition dance team for ROCKIN at Nationals! I am so appreciative to my mother and brother and everyone else who has watched and taken care of my daughter while I have been gone!
I am scared to go home! I am scared of the temptations. I am only going to be home for 2 1/2 days and then I am leaving for Chicago for the NEA convention for 1 week. That is going to be very tough for me! I know I will be able to get my cardio in; but I am worried about the food! I will never forget how hard the workouts have been and I never want to come back here for a jump start. The next time I come back here; I want to be at my goal and give Sheryl, Kelly and Leif a huge hug and thank them for everything!
After I leave here...I will still update my blog! This journey is not done when I leave here...this journey is going to go on until I am at my goal; which I don't know what that is yet! I am sure I will have struggles to report and milestones.
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

Happy Summer! Not....
OK, I apologize; but I was in no mental or physical mood last night to write a blog...maybe it was from all my cucumber cake:) Actually during our circuits yesterday morning I was wondering why the hell am I doing this for another week! Why didn't I just leave with my husband so I could sit in a tent during the rain for three days? Well, I didn't and I needed to suck it up. I was a very unhappy camper when we went on our hike. They told us we needed to really wear our hiking boots! BS....you really don't need your hiking boots when the majority of your hike is on a paved bike path! My feet and my hiking boots do not get along very well. I took out the orthotics and that didn't help at all either! I was in excruciating pain when we returned! I was in my bed by 7:30 p.m......
It is a good thing that each day starts anew and when I wake up I am thankful that I am here! The weather today for the first day of summer was not at all delightful; but you know I don't think summer comes here in the North Shore until August! Our morning walk was very windy....I was so proud of myself because I believe I ran at least half of it...actually I didn't have a choice because when I would stop and walk I was getting a sharp pain on the side of my left leg...and it felt so much better to run; so that is what I did....I don't know if many would call it running as opposed to jogging!
My favorite circuit of the week was today: LEGS...not! Once again I will tell you how much I despise doing lunges; actually my knee where I had surgery despises them. My knee swells up pretty good after the leg circuits. Today we did relays and were they challenging...but I think we rocked the house! No afternoon hike today (we were all very sad and crying.....) it was poring rain; so we went to the gym and did our cardio for 115 minutes......Leif said we were going to do 90 minutes, but he doesn't really know how to tell time; so we went a little longer. I was not going to complain; because I did not want any one-on-one time with him at the weights because he always makes it hurt so damn bad! If anyone out there has a Hello Kitty sippy cup or Hello Kitty watch that they don't want anymore...I would like it because I am going to give it to Leif for his birthday or Christmas!
Day 2 is done...the group of new girls/ladies are amazing! I am always amazed at a newcomer and how hard they work and how much they can do... Today I said I think I am getting weaker; because the damn wall sit..killed my legs today and 2 weeks ago I was able to do it for 3 minutes~
Tomorrow there is a 100% chance of rain all day! I think we are looking at a 2 hour pool work-out:)
I thank everyone for the birthday wishes.....I did call my mom the night of my birthday because she TEXTED me Happy Birthday....I said, What the Hell! You can't even call me on my birthday! She said she didn't know if I would be in bed...I will forgive her for this one! We were the ones who taught her how to text:)
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday!
June 19, 2011: I remember when I was a kid and a time when I had to share my birthday with my dad on Father's Day! I was so angry that it just all wasn't about me. I was selfish in thinking that we should not be celebrating any other day than my birthday. Today, on my 39th birthday; I would be honored to share Father's Day with my dad. I lost my dad when I was 15 years old. If I could see him today and say something to him; I would thank him for the 15 years that I did have with him! I miss my father very much. I miss the smell of his Captain Black smoking tobacco coming out of his pipe. I miss going raccoon hunting with him in the late fall on very chilly nights and listening to the AM radio (usually listening to baseball). I miss the smell of his aftershave and his next day scruffle on his chin, I miss sitting in the bleachers with him at different sporting events; I truly miss him. So today, Happy Father's Day to Dennis Joseph Harmon, may your memory live on forever!
Now, it is my birthday today and it has been amazing already. Camille, Nikki and I went and received massages at Mass-ahhh-ge by the Lake, LLC (MBTL). Richard and Dianne Helms are amazing individuals and have a massage studio that other people would be very envious of. Dianne gave me my massage and it was so awesome and relaxing. Not only did I get a massage, but I received a BIO FREEZE treatment, hot pack treatments and aromatherapy all in one! If you ever get up this way in Two Harbors, you need to look up Mass-ahhh-ge by the Lake, LLC www.massagebythelake.com on Christianson Lake Rd.
Because it is my birthday, Sheryl had asked me what my favorite thing to eat is and of course I responded with: Pizza! I really think I could eat Pizza for every meal and it wouldn't matter what kind of pizza or what the pizza had on it....I just love Pizza!!!!!!! So we got to make our very own Pizza. Deanna stayed for lunch with Camille, Nikki and I. We made a pizza out of Sheryl's awesome sauce (which I want the recipe) we put onions, red, orange and green peppers, turkey pepperoni and we each got a piece of string cheese to put on our pizza. We used a piece of FLAT OUT! We seasoned it with Italian seasoning. I can not even begin to tell you how amazing the pizza was; and I really don't think it would have needed the string cheese! Now I am really happy to know that I will be able to make pizza again....I am dreaming of some black/green olives and mushrooms:)
Today, we are back to a house of 11! We have 3 new ladies staying in our half of the lodge; another Camille, Linda and Tara (who flew in from Indiana). The week begins again tomorrow morning....I am waiting for Krzysztof and Jacek to get here and see me.....I can't wait; that will truly be the best birthday present.
I got magazines and lottery tickets from Camille and Nikky and I won $13.00 yippee!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Oberg Mountain!
This Saturday compared to last Saturday, was WAY different. I think some of us went to bed last night thinking we would have an easier day today because last Saturday was kind of leisure. Don't ever think that any day will be the same. Today we got to go on our morning walk, it was very windy and cold and some sprinkles. We had our pool workout and then played a mean game of Extreme! That was an exercise in and of itself and next time the hell with the rules; I'm dunking! Next came the real shock of the day when Leif says, we are going to the gym at 10:00! I was like; are you flippin kidding me? He was not:)
We did 90 minutes of cardio at the gym and then did some abs and just a couple of weights. Of course I won't complain because it does feel good when you are finished. We got less than an hour for lunch as we had to get in the car at 1:00 p.m. to go on our hike!
We went up north a little farther by Tofte and hiked Oberg Mountain. Wow, what spectacular views from that mountain. There are a few overlooks that are absolutely amazing. I really want to come back this fall and hike the Mountain again with my husband and maybe my kids. Sheryl's husband said the colors on the trees are pristine and you can get some very great pictures. The hike was not a piece of cake. I got a little ticked as we made it around the loop and a couple of us wanted to go back on the loop and meet our fellow lion. But Leif smarted off and asked if we needed sippy cups (he wanted us to come down to the bottom and then hike back up). Well, I heard that and I thought; don't say that to me. I flew down the damn trail, never looked at anyone when we met up with them. We turned around and headed back up the trail to our fellow lion! It actually felt really good, because I was dripping with sweat and knew that I really had a great hike. When we got back to the resort; of course I could barely walk, my foot was aching! But we made it.
We just got back from our local field trip to Pamida! Wow, what an experience. I was very tempted to buy some Doritos, candy, anything because it was all so damn tempting! We needed to buy some cards so we can play some poker tonight. Camille says we are going to bet our 7 almonds:) Too bad I already ate my 7 almonds....
On a sad note, my mom called me today and told me my Uncle Cecil died. Cecil was my dad's oldest brother and was solid as a rock! I shed some tears and I do know that Cecil lived one hell of a life! My prayers go out to Aunt Betty and Cecil's family....I love them all.
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

To Beaver Bay we Went!
Yeah, we were able to walk outside again today....no rain! Our morning walk was a little over an hour and then to the pool workout. I truly believe that my arm muscles bursted yesterday and they were very swelled up....I am going to thank Leif for not making us do ANY deck jumps:)
We headed to the gym for 90 minutes of cardio and some ab work. This afternoon we went on a hike. We started off at Split Rock Lighthouse and took the bike trail to Beaver Bay! 6.2 miles later and we made it. The sun was out and the weather was gorgeous! I have taken some pictures, but have not be able to upload them onto the blog. I got my picture taken underneath the Beaver Bay sign with a population of 175!
My whole body is aching right now. The impact of my feet hitting the pavement brings on some real soreness! I think I may soak in some Epsom salt, thanks to Kris bringing that into the house. Tomorrow is our last physical day of exercise for the week! For those of you who do not know, I am staying another week and will not be going to the Boundary Waters with Krzysztof. I have decided that this is where I need to be for another week. The sad part of this week ending is that Deanna will be leaving. Deanna has been in the house for 2 weeks with me. I absolutely love her:) Deanna lives in Minneapolis and is a nurse and is close to my age. She has the best sense of humor and can make me laugh. Kris will also be leaving from our house after a week and she lives in Edina! She is a character as well and is pretty funny.
I will still have Camille and Nikki, as they are here with their journey for a total of 4 weeks! I absolutely love Nikki's comments she makes. Nikki is a music teacher in an Elementary school, but she still will not sign for us. She better sing for my birthday though! Camille is like my twin sister! She is full of spunk, at times she seems like she needs a dose of Ritalin and I love to laugh with her! So next week during the trials and tribulations I will still have them to lean on. We will have a full house again next week!
I have so many fears of leaving this place! I would stay here forever, as long as the 6-8 hours of work-outs would be cut back:) I know what my body is going through and Leif is an amazing teacher on Nutrition! Actually that doesn't even give him justice! Leif is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to weight loss and nutrition that I have ever come across. He is straight forward and he absolutely knows what he is talking about. I actually can't wait to listen to the Nutrition talk again next week for the 3 time, as I learn something new each time.
I am a little scared to go on the scale on Sunday morning because I don't want to be disappointed! I do know that the scale will not always show the health. I have eaten so healthy! I have found the foods to be excellent, except for the Muscle Milk (I could go the rest of my life and never would want to drink that shit again....). I am enjoying every part of being here, even the excruciating workouts! I am not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow, but I will let you know!

Took a Detour!
During my meeting last night with Kelly I made the comment that I was so disappointed in myself for "letting myself go", she commented that I have not let myself go because I am here! She said that I took a detour. I have done some thinking about the detour. My detour was more of a DEAD END! I ran straight into the dead end. Now I am making my journey back to the country road! I will stay on that country road and if I come to another detour sign, I will not take the detour; I will find a way to keep on the country road.
Today was a real mix up! We did the 2 hour pool workout and I made a comment that I didn't need breakfast, because I had drank enough pool water. We had a cardio circuit with Abs and bosu balls! The circuit was all out work and we finished with tornadoes! Tornadoes are jumping jacks in a square, so if you have to do 5 tornadoes; you are doing 60 jumping jacks and we did a lot more than that! Right after our circuit training we headed to the gym and did an hour of cardio!
Instead of our hike today we received a special treat and it wasn't Dairy Queen! We went to 4-U Fitness and were able to work with the owner Jill and her brother-in-law Gary. Gary took us through our Spin class...OMG! I have never done spinning; of course that is Gary's specialty along with running. We went through intervals and it was harder than pedaling the hills during the triathlon! Right after the spinning we went through a session of TRX (Total Body Resistance Exercise). Wow, it was a little intense. Having to use your own body weight to do the moves is very hard. I am thinking I need to find a place that has TRX back home as well. Of course, Jill was amazing teaching us!
Our supper was baked Cod w/ Green Beans and Zucchini Squash....yum, yum, yum!
We have NO idea what is in store for us tomorrow, but I know that my muscles are very swollen right now! I guess we will see tomorrow!
Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts! I think of everything back home and do have some fears of what lies ahead, but I am taking one day at a time and one step at a time!
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

A New Twist!
I got to do some boxing today! This afternoon instead of our hike, we went to a professional Martial Arts center in Hermantown, outside of Duluth. It rained all day today, good for us. The boxing was so intense. Chris, the owner of the place, took us through a training session. We took our shoes and socks off and got our wrists wrapped. I felt like a real boxer. Too bad I didn't look like one! We each got our own boxing station. We did a warm-up that I would have classified as a workout in and of itself. We went through intervals of different punches. I was amazed at how exhausting throwing a punch is; of course we had the boxing gloves on as well. When we went into the kicks, all I could think about was as a kid we use to say, "no fair, no kicking." Hell, that is the way to knock someone down. I enjoyed the session. It was such an intense workout. I hope I can find someplace close to home that has boxing!
We started out this morning with a two hour pool workout. The bad thing is that I hit my nose on the ledge of the pool while I was doing a deck jump in the 5 foot end. I initially thought I was going to pass out. I think I have a really hard nose. The only part that hurts now is the bridge of my nose, especially when I touch it. I am hoping I don't get any black eyes!
Our circuit today was very fast and tough. Abs, Abs, Abs and upper body! Leif keeps saying, "Ladies just think of those LEAN, TONE, MUSCLES!"
I must say that I am really enjoying our car rides. We have a lot of laughs. Tonight I had my meeting with Sunshine (AKA Kelly), she is the health and wellness coach here. It was a very emotional meeting. She asks some questions that are personal and make you think. It felt really good to talk to her. I do know that I am on the right journey. I am worth every step that I am taking.
I have to tell you how awesome Kelly is. If you have never heard of Tyson Squats, look them up on the Internet and watch how they happen. The name came from Mike Tyson while he was locked up. I guess where he was they were not allowed to have weights. He used a deck of cards to do squats. Kelly did 10 cards. That seems easy until you see how they are done. You place the cards about a foot apart. You start with one card and pick it up. Go to the next card, drop the first one and pick up each one at a time. This goes down the line. When you get to the 10th card, you are dropping the first 9 one at a time and then picking each one up! So when you have ten cards you are doing almost 200 squats! Kelly was awesome......
Tomorrow we have a special treat for us. We are going to do a spin class and a TRX class in the afternoon. My butt and legs are already crying:)
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

Leisure Hike at the Tettegouche State Park
Emotionally my day was like night and day from yesterday. I think I actually slept for 6 hours last night.(have not been able to sleep very well, maybe it's because I am sleeping all alone:)) We started our walk right outside our resort today which added quite a distance. The pool workout was ok, although having to do deck jumps in 5 feet of water pretty much sucks. Especially for me since I can barely reach the bottom. I almost drown every time I have to go down and push up because I suck in too much air. I will tell you that deck jumps are killers! They are quite easy to do in the 3 feet, though.
Our circuits today were legs! I absolutely despise doing lunges. They are so painful on my knee! There really isn't much about the lower body workout that I really enjoy. The second worst thing for me is calf raises:( We are suppose to do them explosively; well that does not happen with me) I can do about ten in a row and the burn takes over so bad, that I just want to cry. We made it through the lower body circuit training today and I was dreading the hike but was excited that I was going to go!
We lost one of our roommates today, Ann! Ann is such an amazing woman. She is 60 years old and is unbelievable at what she did here. Ann's goal was to lose 20 pounds and she lost half of that in the first week. Ann was leaving tomorrow, but left a day early. She got really faint and went to the doctor yesterday and he said she was very dehydrated. Ann was the calm one in the house, but was so fun to listen to!
Our hike today was to the Tettegouche State Park. On the way there, we stopped at Palisades Head, awesome view. We were told it was going to be just a leisurely hike. We were going to do a 1.3 mile loop! I have come to the realization that you can really never listen to Leif, except when he is yelling at you. His hikes and his watch never really match up. We headed out on the hike. It was Leif, Sunshine (aka Kelly), Kris (the new roomie), Camille, Deanna and myself. Sheryl kept asking us later if we enjoyed the sights. I told her I didn't know how we could enjoy it when you don't get time to stop! The one scary part of the 1.3 mile loop was that Leif thought we should go off the path. We were going down a steep rock and Camille lost her footing. Thank God there was a large tree where she fell to stop her. I screamed as I was in front of her and all I could see was her rolling over the rocks down into Lake Superior. She didn't and we made it back after 45 minutes.
This is where we knew it was not going to be just a leisurely hike. We headed another way, only to end up in the camp ground, so we went back and went down the 50+ stairs to the beach. The beach was awesome, but all I could think about was the 50 steps back! We were not done after that. Sheryl said she would pick us up on the road to go to the trail head. We started walking and walking and walking and walking. I think I swore a few times while we were walking. My foot was in excruciating pain, but I kept trudging along. We finally made it to the parking lot where Sheryl's vehicle was sitting. Sunshine had picked Camille and I some flowers because we are so sweet and we put them in our hair. We were heading up the short trek .7 miles to the falls, when the bees started coming at us. I finally realized that they were after the flowers. It was quite funny. We didn't even make it up the .7 hike, which was ALL uphill. We finally ran into Sheryl and Nikki. I don't know how many miles we actually put on this afternoon, but by the sight of me getting out of the Yukon when we got back; one could have guessed!
Tomorrow is another day, another day that I am thankful that I will still be here! As much as my foot is in pain and my knee gets sore, I just keep thinking about the long term and I know my body is reminded that it will NOT remain in this state! I am so grateful for Leif (please don't tell him that right now...because he is still the Devil boy to us), Sunshine (AKA, Kelly) and Sheryl. We are without O'Neal for a few days. Leif does give us encouragement and Sunshine is just that. She is awesome!
I thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. Please know that I take each one to heart:)
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

In a Funk!
Today was/is emotional for me! I am not sure why. Woke up early and did the morning walk and pool work-out. (I did awesome on the walk, especially when compared to last Monday) After breakfast, something just happened. During the circuit trainings, which were upper body, I became emotional. I shed some tears; not enough for anyone to notice, but I just wanted to cry! We had an excruciating training. I don't know if something snapped inside Leif, but he was more than the Devil today.
I think part of my problem is that I am so disgusted with myself that I have gotten the way I am. I have no one to blame for that but myself! I can not even pinpoint how I got this way! I know it was a lot easier getting the weight on than it is taking the weight off. I believe that I self wallow in pity and my escape for that is and has been food! I believe food has been my escape for all of my emotional moods!
I have been thinner in my life! The only problem with that is that I was NEVER healthy. Both times since high school when I got thin was because of self-destructive behaviors. One I will not talk about! The other though I will. For about 12 months I was bulimic. I was in a state of denial. The whole time I worked out for over 2 hours a day; but I feared putting the food into me for fear of not losing weight. I would go through a drive thru and order a lot of food. I would eat it on the way from school (Menomonie) back to Baldwin and by the time I got there I would walk in the house and make myself throw up. It was insane! I don't know why I stopped, I just did! I think I started to have a lot of sore throats. Mentally, I knew it was wrong! I seem to know right from wrong.
I want to be HEALTHY for my kids. My children have NEVER seen their mom healthy! It makes me very sad and very disgusted with myself when I think about that. My kids deserve a mom that is healthy! I am sick of making excuses for my life. It is time to take some responsibility. I just want to be healthy. I don't plan to be skinny (have you ever looked at the size of my thighs or quads) I want to be happy.
I know I am doing a great thing and the road I am on is the right one...I will get out of my funk. I think maybe this is the MENTAL roadblock that O'Neal told us about last week! I also understand the Leif has seen what we can do and he is going to push us to the max. I was really bummed today because Leif made me stay back from the hike! I wasn't bummed, I was outright pissed! I wanted to scream at him and tell him I can do anything! He wanted me to rest my foot because it was really aggravated after the bosu/step training! The whole time doing the cardio and pool (in place of the hike), all I could think about was how pissed I was. I know the 3 hour workout I did was good, I just don't like it when someone tells me that I can't do something! I will get over it though.
I am praying that tomorrow I wake up and my funk will be gone and emotionally I will back in sync. I want to give it my all. Remember if you see my kids; remind them how much I love them and miss them:) You can remind my husband that too, but I know he already knows that!
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

Yeah and Nay!
Let me start with the Nays! So it is our day off and we traveled to Duluth! The smells in Target were so tempting I didn't know what to do! My mind was playing tricks on me. I have never realized how good popcorn really smells. I wanted to walk over and steal popcorn out of a lady's bag. I was so hungry, actually I am really hungry right now; but I have to wait! We had to drive around and pass all of these restaurants and all I could think of was; what would I order there? I got back in the car and ate an apple. I have never eaten that much of an apple before.
So let me tell you about the YEAH! I got up this morning to get weighed and was kind of bummed that we couldn't find out what our results were. Leif gave us a good reasoning as each person is different in their body mass and he didn't want us to think that you didn't work as hard or you had worked harder than the other person and the weight reflected something other than what you thought. We were all ok with the explanation and Leif and Kelly (AKA Sunshine) went on their way. About an hour later we got a call and they wanted to see each of us. They told us our weight loss for this week. I will just say that our house of 5 ladies had a weight loss of around 72 pounds! So here are my results:
I am DOWN..............12.8.......POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was in a little shock. I now am determined to work harder this week. I am going to push myself into exhaustion! I am so excited for what this week will bring!
Until Next Time, PEACE OUT!

Last Chance Workout!
That is what Leif called our 2 hour pool workout this morning at 6:00 a.m. (last chance work-out). I will tell you that the pool workouts are not your average water aerobics. We do different circuits and relays for 2 hours. The difference between doing the circuits in the pool instead of the ballroom is that your muscles feel a WHOLE lot better after the pool. We had a somewhat easy day today! After the breakfast we didn't have to go anywhere until our 1:30 hike. We were really in shock, I was thinking: oh my gosh I have to go for a walk or go do some stairs or something. I put Psycho woman back to bed and told her we needed to listen to Leif, Sheryl and Kelly! They said it was a leisure day and we should let our bodies rest some. Believe it or not I LISTENED!
We went down town Duluth to do our hike/walk this afternoon. Instead of the normal 2 1/2 hour hike we only did 2 hours, but it really didn't matter because my feet very much dislike the pounding of the pavement! It was a nice walk and there were a lot of people down town Duluth! The real trouble spot with the walk was having to walk past the Mini Donut stand....I just kept breathing in the air and pretending I was eating one. It was real torture. Also, having to walk past all of the restaurants with the food waffling out of the doorways was pure temptation. Thank goodness I didn't bring any money with me:)
The best part of the day was by far lunch and dinner. Lunch rocked the world! When I first heard what we were going to have I was a little scared. We were going to have Tuna Steak wraps! First of all I have never cooked a tuna steak and secondly I have never put it in a wrap. It was so awesome! Don't worry for any of you that want some recipes I will share (for a small fee!) For supper we had baked Tilapia with Spinach/lime and lots of mixed (cooked) veggies! I am really liking this food. We had an awesome protein shake this morning made with Almond Milk, Chocolate Whey Protein, banana and peanut butter....it tasted like a recess peanut butter cup....I found my new dessert and thought if I crushed up ice while making it, it could pass as a Blizzard!
Tomorrow is an ABSOLUTE body rest day. Of course they are making us get up at 6:00 a.m. to get weighed (and they won't even tell us the weight)! I think I may hitch a ride with Camille to Duluth and do some shopping. My skin is needing some really good lotion from all the pool water. My blister is needing some kind of medication or something! Don't worry, I will not be going anywhere with temptations. We have our lunch and everything else for tomorrow! We also have a newcomer joining us tomorrow!
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

Blister in the Sun!
I was able to walk down the steps this morning one leg at a time. I was so impressed as I didn't have to go sideways or one leg at a time. Don't worry tonight I was not able to walk down those same steps one leg at a time. I believe we walked over 11 miles today and that didn't include the cardio at the gym. We did our circuits at the gym and also had our hour pool work-out! So guess what I got from all the walking, A BLISTER!!!!! I am not the only one...A Blister in the sun when it is very cold out; go figure!
Our lunch today was amazing...A spinach shrimp salad with asparagus...it was so delicious! The hardest part of today was the hike. The hikes have been the most excruciating part of the day for me the last two days! They are exhausting. I start out really strong and then the body just starts screaming to slow down. Although uphill is much easier for me than going down, I don't prefer the uphills because there seems to be WAY TOO MANY!
We did have an nutritional meeting tonight that was very helpful. So much information; but great things! The biggest thing I came out of the meeting is this as quoted by Leif, "Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail." That really struck a chord with me! I know it is weird that I am quoting the Devil boy as well, but he is full of knowledge and very well educated in nutrition.
I am really sorry that I don't have much to say. Maybe I will leave you with a visual.
Just imagine this scenario: Our cups from our egg beaters that we microwaved didn't get fully clean in the dishwasher. So a roommate says to me, "Is there a scrubber somewhere?" I responded, "Yes, right under the cupboard below the sink." She opens the cupboard looks down and says, "How the hell am I suppose to get that?" I simply responded, "Just bend over!" We started laughing because nobody could really bend over after the day of leg exercises! I told her she had to do it since she asked:)

Put the Psycho back behind the bars!
After lunch you all noticed that my post was quite upbeat and I was feeling really good about everything. I don't feel that way anymore....The 2 1/2 hour hike this afternoon kicked my ass (sorry for the cussing). Remember yesterday about the trails at Split Rock Light House...well we got to visit their again today to enjoy the scenery. Our Sunshine, AKA Kelly, turned a little cloudy on us...she kept our speed up and we had to do the Day Mile Hike double time....that pretty much killed me. I thought well at least the worst is over...but when it only took about 30 minutes, I was also thinking are you kidding me; we have to walk another 2 hours? And that we did, but I sure didn't do it double time. My minimus Gluts (ha ha ha) were killing me on the walk. I was in such pain..my whole body was aching..I was thinking to myself what the hell did Psycho woman do to me today?
As I am waiting to dish my plate of Cod and green beans, my body is aching, my feet (both of them) are full of excruciating pain, my back is sore and my legs are like jello. I know I am on the right path, but I really want to cry and I think I am going to do just that after supper!
Love to my family and friends!
Until next time, PEACE OUT!

The Psycho Me Came Out!
Uh oh! I woke up this morning and something snapped in my brain. My body was not as sore as yesterday, as I didn't want to scream when I had to roll off the bed. Of course my foot was still in pain and lower back was tight; but something was different. I made a choice that I was walking this morning and there was no looking back. In all of the other walks I never made it out to the pier, I wanted to do it before I left here. Well that is where Psycho Woman steps in.
I got out of the car and just started high tailing it. I didn't care if people were going to pass me, I was just going to move and move I did. My motivator, Camille (she rocks the house) became my partner on the walk. Well psycho woman believes she can do anything and we ran up every hill. We ran part way on the pier and at another spot I said, "I think we can run the rest of the way." She said, "Are you kidding, we gotta long way to go sista." Thank gosh I listed to her. We did run some more! I was so amazed at the ground I covered today during the 1hour walk.
Let me move you on to circuit training. Psycho woman once again shows up and at the end of an already 2 1/2 hours of circuits, our good ole' buddy Leif has a challenge. He needs someone to do the wall sit for 3 minutes or we will have another 1/2 hour of ab work. Psycho me, chirps right up and says, "I can do it." I think my body and brain were a little confused as to who the heck just said that because they were thinking, WHAT THE! Well there were three of us who took the challenge for the group. Psycho woman prevailed and completed the challenge, along with the rockstar Deanna and go getter Sonya! So yeah we didn't have to do another 1/2 hour of ab work, but Leif was once again so generous to us and let us walk back. Lunch was amazing as we had a chicken and black bean burrito...yum, yum, yum!
I now have to get ready for the 2 1/2 hour hike...Not sure where we are going today; but I am sure I will have something interesting to share later. I will see if Psycho woman comes out this afternoon!
We saw some kind of wolf this morning on our walk, I think they said it was a brush wolf. The thing looked vicious and scary, much smaller than a gray wolf.
Until next time, PEACE OUT

The Climb to the top of a Minnesota Mountain!
Oh my gosh...Good thing that I didn't blog this morning or I may not have had such good things to say! I was very nauseous this morning when I woke up and drank my shake. The morning hour walk started out slow...my foot was hurting and my brain was saying what the heck. When I jumped in the pool; I was freezing and thought I can not take the washing machines, wave makers, lunges or deck ups! Once I started I just focused on the end...to finish and not look back! I was feeling really nauseated after the pool and really didn't want to eat breakfast. I was afraid the egg beaters and Kashi Go Lean w/ Almond Milk and Fresh Strawberries was going to come up while I was doing the circuits!
I didn't throw up, but our circuits really sucked! Walk in the room and see 19 stations. I thought are you kidding me? I wanted to cry. All I was thinking was I can not do this, my body is so sore! Well after two circuits guess what our BONUS was? I will give you a hint and tell you that a BONUS is not always a good thing. We were able to sprint up the steps 5 times! These were not just 5 steps, and nobody counted! I think everyone was thinking that we would all be done after that...but oh no! We had to do another circuit and the 2 rounds on the BOSU balls! After we were all done, Leif said we did such an awesome job on day 3 so we could ALL walk back (except him, he got to drive is Cadillac Escalade back), I guess that is what you call a perk when you are the Drill Seargant!
I layed in my bed after lunch with ice on my foot and knee and really wondered how I was going to be able to put my hiking boots on! They fit:) We were suppose to have a nice easy hike today; since today is suppose to be one of the hardest days! Well, THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! We went to Split Rock Lighthouse. If you have never been there, it is an amazing state park and has some spectacular views. Sheryl asked the lady at the front what the easiest hike would be and they told her the Day Mile trail. Actually I am not even sure if that is the right name, because I would have name it: The Fireplace from Hell! The climb was ALL uphill. It was not just your average little climb, it was steep. When you reach the top it is very beautiful and there since a lonely furnace that some poor old guy was building for his bride (but she canceled the wedding). The best part of this hike was that we were able to come DOWN!
I give kudos to the women here because some of them rock it out so hard! They probably covered 4 times the area as me. I am proud of myself though!
After the 2 1/2 hour hike (you don't want to end early or Leif might just give you a BONUS), supper never sounded so good! We made faux potatoes (mashed cauliflower w/ seasoning and smart butter), if you have never had these just try them they are absolutely to die for. We also made a stir fry out of a Southwestern Turkey Sirloin w/fresh veggies! It was by far the best supper ever....
I made it today! I definitely hit a mental block somewhat today. I wanted to cry like I have never cried before. But I didn't! I am taking the words of O'Neal Hampton to heart, "My health is more important than the pain I am feeling right now." I kept saying that to myself today and reminding myself that I want to be healthy and it doesn't matter what my foot is feeling or my knee. I am keeping one foot in front of the other and also remembering the words of Sheryl, "Slow and Steady wins the race!"
I am so happy I am here....the excruciating pain will get better....my heart will get better and I will get better! I love my family so much!
For now, Peace Out!

Good, Bad continued!
I am back after a very emotional talk with O'Neal. I feel inspired, yet consumed by guilt. I will get to that some other time! I want to go back to the Good and the Bad here!
We just got our snack: a banana and 7 almonds...It reminds you of eating a banana split:)
I will share some other good things about this place: you know I can't think of anymore right now. So lets touch about the BAD!
Getting up at 5:20 a.m. is really nothing that new for me; but having to drink a protein shake within 10 minutes, that has not been fun. The morning walk is great and so is the initial splash in the pool. The fun only lasts about 1 minute and then one can not believe that a pool work-out can be so draining and exhausting. Today the Deck Ups were enough to make me scream; which I did! I thought my shoulders and arms were going to fall off! Then after breakfast the Cardio Circuits are something that Leif thinks up in his nightmares! We walked in today and it was ALL legs for initial circuits...ouch; especially with a sore knee and a stupid foot! After 2 hours and 45 minutes of circuit training, it was time for lunch.
Today we had a real bummer happen. There was suppose to be severe storms this afternoon so we had to cancel our afternoon hike in the state park! Some of us were thinking that we would rather hike in a severe storm than have Leif take us through the workout. We happened to be right!
Our afternoon "hike/cardio" started off in a local gym where it was 1 hour of sweat cardio; but we were NOT done. We headed back to the lodge and had to do relays. We did relays for 1 1/2 hours...this was BAD! Just when I thought we were done; not. One relay we had to run down to the lake and fill a glass of water and run it back. While my two teammates were doing their legs of the relay, I kept thinking to myself that I didn't care; I was just going to walk! I was pissed; pissed because I didn't want to be last and the chances are we were going to be last; even with another group having four people. My turn came and I decided that I didn't give a shit how my knee was feeling or how bad my foot was cramping; I was running. Running I did, I tried my hardest at the end to sprint and guess what, I wasn't last! I was so happy. (my foot and knee right now are not that happy)
I know I say all of this is BAD...but after the afternoon workout, Day 2 was officially over; until tomorrow morning brings the next day!
I do believe that I am going to hit that wall tomorrow! I think the physical wall is coming. I am sure I will let you know tomorrow night!
I really have a hard time here on what to put down! There is so much going on and your body is actually moving faster that the mind can move. I will say it again that I love my husband very much: I am doing this to make our marriage stronger because I love you and never want to lose you:) To my kids...because I want to be here forever for you; as a healthy mom!
Until next time.....Peace Out!

Take the Good with the Bad!
I will share some of the good here! Even though my body is aching; I believe I can look past that and see the good:)
The lodge that we are staying at is unbelievable. I will get some pictures up. To think that we have a whirlpool tub that massages you butt; nothing like that. Our meals have been really good! I think it helps that there are a few of us who actually like to cook (don't start laughing). Today we woke up and had a Muscle Milk shake and after our morning walk and pool workout; and it is a workout, we had breakfast. Today for breakfast was Quaker Oatmeal Weight Control Maple Brown Sugar and an egg made the way you like it (minus butter to fry in in and salt to season it) I made our house my specialty fried eggs and I substituted Mrs. Dash and some pepper...yum, yum, yum! For lunch we had Tuna sandwiches. Each person gets a can of tuna and you can add whatever you want and eat all of the veggies you want. We did get some mustard sauce. We had our tuna on those little buns and I can't remember the name. For supper we had chicken tacos. Ground chicken with chili pepper and cumin. On a tortilla and with lots of veggies. Who knows what our snack will be tonight...everything is always a surprise.
Some of the other good is that the people who are on their journey here is amazing and the 5 in my house we are all here for 2 weeks.
I will have to come back and share the bad; I have to head off to a meeting with O'Neal..the O'Neal from the Biggest Loser:)

First Impressions are not Always the greatest!
The spectacular view of Lake Superior from our balcony; is breathtaking. The resort is beyond a stay I would have ever had. What you see on the outside is not exactly what goes on the inside. That is where the first impression went out the window!
Forget the beauty of the scenery as you are hiking as you just put one foot in front of the other. What is on the inside of this resort has my body wanting to just sleep right now; actually my body was ready to sleep at noon today. That wasn't happening. As I want to go to bed right now at 6:00 p.m., I am reminded by my wonderful roommates that I HAVE to eat my snack around 7:45. I don't even want to eat anything else.
We have already had one person sidelined due to an injury and another who is on her way to the emergency room. I am thankful that only my knee is in pain and of course my foot is in excruciating pain. I will keep going. Ice, ice baby....that is my motto. I made it through the official day 1. The worst is now behind me. Although O'Neal, from the Biggest Loser, has reminded us all that we will hit that mental and physical wall; I have to believe that I will get over that wall, even if I have to dig a tunnel to go underneath.
I am going to leave you with the fact that I am ok and am still alive! I love my husband, Krzysztof and my two awesome children, Elzbieta and Jacek with all my heart. Because of you guys I am here!
Until tomorrow, depending on my physical and mental state:
Peace Out!

The Decision!
I have a made the decision to change. The decision to change my life, my inner-self, my outer-self; my whole being. As I am writing this; I am not alone. I am not alone for the time being. I have 10 other amazing women who are starting the journey with me.
I am at Fitness North! I am full of anxiety, fear and excitement. What a combination, I think put together they would call that psycho....I am on the road to change. I want to thank my husband and my awesome two children for letting me leave them. I love them with all my heart.
Make sure you come back or follow me to find my updates!
